| Connect Housing is a Hate Incident Reporting Centre; this means anyone can report any incidents of harassment at our offices, if they feel unable to go to the police.
A Hate incident is any incident which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be racist or homophobic. This may include any animosity to someone because of their sexuality, or which is racially motivated because of their race, nationality, colour or ethnic heritage.
You do not have to be a tenant of a housing association to use this service. You can be a council tenant, or an home-owner and the harassment does not have to be taking place at your home - it can be near your home, place of worship, place of education, in the street, work place, on public transport etc.
We will help you to complete a form so that the seriousness of the incident can be established and appropriate action can be taken. We keep the original copy of the form and anyone reporting an incident is given a copy. A third copy is forwarded to the West Yorkshire Police if the person making the report has given permission to do so, and a fourth copy goes to the local non-law enforcement support agency - Kirklees Racial Equality Council.
If you wish to report a Hate incident please contact our Housing Service Advisors on 01484 35 35 30.
