Connect Housing has a legal obligation to service the gas fittings and flues to your home annually to ensure your safety. When we contact you to inform you that your annual gas service is due, please ensure that you contact IDM (our Gas Contractor) immediately on 01274 60 33 33 to make an appointment for the service to be carried out.

The Gas Service:

• takes no longer than 45 minutes;
• costs you nothing;
• ensures your safety within your home.

Please note, if you have token meters in your home you will need to have sufficient credit on both your gas and electric meters for the gas service to be carried out.

Failure to allow access for the Gas Service:

• is a Health and Safety risk to you, your family and your neighbours;
• is a breach of your tenancy agreement;
• could result in legal action being taken against you to gain access, which could lead to losing your home (in addition you would have to pay court costs of approximately £250).
  

If you fail to allow a service to take place, you are putting yourself, your family and your neighbours at risk from the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. You cannot see, smell or taste carbon monoxide, but it can kill within a matter of minutes. Every year approximately 30 people are killed from gas-related incidents in the home.
